Fundazzle
Getting the kids out indoors With two kids in Beijing who have been spoiled for fun in Australia, we are always on the lookout for good ways to entertain our two year old girl and four year old boy. Fundazzle is a good place to go. It used to be an indoor swimming pool and is a huge enclosed playground which avoids contact with the cold and pollution. They keep the place reasonably clean. The deep end of the pool is now a ball pool. There is a climbing maze and lose the kids when they get up to the 4th or 5th levels. Seth leads Jenna through it which is nice - when he was her age he was afraid to go in by himself.
Fundazzle has its ups and downs. There are a lot of "Aiyi's" - worker aunties - who take their work way to serious. As this is a country of single children - every parent only has to watch one child. I have two (and a third on the way). The older one is not allowed in the younger play area, even if its not busy (see the photo). I am supposed to take him to the ball pool at the other end, way out of sight. So who will watch the 2 year old? I am supposed to do that as well. There's an attidude that I should have brought a second person to mind the second child. No understanding there.
In spite of my complaints the kids love it and it wears them out so they have a good afternoon nap. You get two hours in the Fundazzle for RMB30/child - if you overstay they will charge you again before giving your shoes back. Be sure your kid has socks or rent them there. Fundazzle is located on the south side of Workers Stadium (Gongti). Opens 9am - best to get there then before the crowds - that is when I took these photographs. Avoid weekends if possible as they also charge for parents and is busy. |
