After a frantic month of sawing, hammering and drilling, Tim’s Texas Bar-B-Q, a venue specializing in hearty meats cooked slowly over fruit woods, an age-old Texas tradition is now relocated to the new location just a few steps from Silk Street No. 2
For carnivores, the best deal is the Round-up for 90RMB, which comes with a huge slab of beef rib, delicious pork ribs and a quarter of a whole chicken, accompanied with side dishes such as chuck wagon beans, coleslaw and potato salad. The meats are all cooked at low temperatures using apple wood , giving it an ample aroma and smoky flavor.
The beef brisket, hand-rubbed with a secret blend of spices and smoked slowly to enable the flavors of the meat, smoke and spices to come together. Served with Bar-B-Q sauce, this thin sliced beef goes great in sandwiches. The sausage, is based on Tim’s family recipe (yes, there really is a Tim, and he is a Texan). The pork ribs are cooked to perfection and absolutely divine, the best we've tasted in Beijing.
For a lighter meal, one may choose an authentic taco salad, served in a crispy tortilla bowl or perhaps a grilled chicken Caesar salad. The fish kebab, shrimp creole and ratatouille are some of the meat free options on the expanded menu. The new menu also features many appetizers such as tortilla soup, fried mushrooms and nachos which are great to snack on with a beer on the front patio. Or enjoy authentic Mexican tacos cooked on the sidewalk every Wednesday – Friday with a pitcher of frozen margaritas.
The restaurant itself is finished, unvarnished wooden walls combine with corrugated aluminum panels give Tim's Texas Bar-B-Q the look of a simple restaurant in the rustic South circa 1950.
The walls are accented with worn cowboy boots, old farm tools, horse shoes, Texas car plates and a bunch of other items combed from shops in remote small Texas towns around where Tim grew up.
