Caribou Café, a small cozy place with no more than 10 tables, is hidden in the little-known Qianliang Hutong. Set up in a traditional house with a large window overlooking the quiet alleyway, the restaurant provides simple but good French and Italian fare, such as duck confit with raspberry sauce, pasta with home-made pesto sauce or sun-dried tomatoes, and delicious French onion soup topped with melted cheese, and all at very reasonable prices. The crème brulee, chocolate flan, and pear cooked in red wine served with rice pudding are very toothsome. Dripped Vietnamese coffee served with sweet condensed milk and apple tea are delightful drinks.
