The lunch set menu (70RMB) offers a choice of an appetizer and main course but does not include drink or dessert.

The duck-breast starter comes with beansprouts, slivers of kelp and carrots in a bolognaise sauce, all rolled in poached cabbage. This was tied prettily with a spring onion, and a zigzag of pesto sauce underneath. This light and refreshing dish comes with a beautiful small green salad in balsamic dressing and topped with slices of apples.

The wonderful veal shank served with water chestnuts in a light gravy and pita bread with cucumber yogurt salad.

Outside the set meal, the gazpacho soup arrives in a tall wine glass garnished with pesto sauce, fresh crabmeat and raw shrimp. Since gazpacho is a cold soup, its aspic character is totally legitimate and gives your tastebuds a unique sensation enticing them into believing it could almost be a dessert.

However, Zoe’s reliace on a microwave was made to obvious just by looking at the shunken and wrinkled sausages and the French toast (10RMB) was too soft.

Elsewhere on zone de Confort’s signature fusion menu, incredible combinations of East meets West food include grilled beef tenderloin with banana and cinnamon served with coconut rice (95RMB), fettuccini with crabmeat in spicy lemon grass sauce (70RMB), duck breast roasted with garlic, thyme and Sichuan peppercorn and served on grapefruit salad (100RMB) as well as Mandarin fish roasted with Chinese wheat wine and black beans served with seasoned vegetables.
