The Xiushui Silk Market, Beijing
This is one of my least favorite markets in Beijing. The girls in the shop stalls are extremely pushy and grab your clothing if you do not stop and look. This gets very annoying after the 20th time in 10 minutes. Nor can they let you browse. They think shoving different things in your face, irregardless of the fact that you are already browsing their merchandise, will make you buy something. In the end they just make your head spin and you go look in the next stall, where they repeat this torture. If you do find something you like, then they try asking riduculous prices. I wanted a scarf, which was fake silk. They wanted 600 RMB to start with and by the time I walked away 15 seconds later the price was down to 30 RMB. Almost all the products are inferior quality or fake. Fake silk, fake Gucci, fake Rolexes and bad manners. Give this market a miss, there are much better places to shop.

Please don't photograph the fakes!
